Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Will Hold Auditions for the Next Like a Dragon Game Soon
Apr-04-2024
Last week, fans of the Like a Dragon series were abuzz with excitement over Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's promise of a significant announcement pertaining to their beloved franchise. Speculation was rife that the developers might unveil details about the next game in the series. Instead, during a recent episode of Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio TV, the team shared an intriguing behind-the-scenes glimpse, focusing not on a new game announcement but on their preparation process for its development.
The studio conveyed its intention to initiate casting auditions for the forthcoming Like a Dragon game. This approach mimics the method applied for Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name, where live-action hostess casting auditions were conducted. Enthusiasts are encouraged to stay tuned, as comprehensive information on the auditions will be disclosed in due course, according to sources at Gematsu.
Although specific details on the upcoming game remain under wraps, Masayoshi Yokoyama, the series director, made it clear it wouldn't be Like a Dragon Kiwami 3. However, he reassured fans about the highly anticipated remake, stating it is indeed on the agenda for future development.
In keeping with the technological choices for the series, Yutaka Ita, Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio's technical director, confirmed in an interview the continuing use of the in-house Dragon Engine for future Like a Dragon titles. This decision comes despite the studio's recent venture with Unreal Engine 4 for Like a Dragon: Ishin!
The series celebrated a significant milestone with the launch of Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth earlier this year. The game not only received universal praise from critics but also achieved remarkable commercial success, selling over a million copies within its initial week. According to the studio, the sales performance exceeded expectations, marking a triumphant chapter for the franchise.
As anticipation builds, fans of the Like a Dragon series eagerly await further details on the new game, the forthcoming casting auditions, and the eventual remake of Like a Dragon Kiwami 3, affirming their continued enthusiasm and support for the enduring saga.
