How Is Netflix Stopping Password Sharing?

Password sharing is a common occurrence in the streaming world; however, with Netflix now beginning to roll out its tighter restrictions, it’s clear that free password-sharing could soon be a thing of the past. So, how is Netflix stopping it?

One of the methods that Netflix is using to stop password sharing is by introducing a paid password-sharing scheme. This allows users to share their accounts with family and friends, but they must pay an additional fee.

In addition to this, Netflix is also introducing tighter restrictions to regions where password sharing is particularly common. These restrictions include a limitation on the number of devices that can be used to access the account, as well as the number of people that can be logged in at any one time.

Netflix is also using more sophisticated analysis techniques to spot users that are using shared passwords. These techniques include looking for patterns in viewing habits and using other techniques to detect if an account is being used by multiple users.

Clearly, Netflix is taking steps to limit password sharing, and it’s likely that users will soon find that free password sharing is no longer possible. However, with the introduction of the paid password-sharing scheme, users can still share their accounts with family and friends, albeit for a fee.
