Anticipated Return of Rogue One's Villain in Andor Season 2 Hinted by Director

A prominent antagonist from Rogue One is likely to make a comeback in Andor season 2. This addition to the cast list is suggested by rumors that Ben Mendelsohn is set to reprise his role as Imperial Director Orson Krennic. His previous appearance was as the mastermind behind the Death Star in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Contrary to early reports denying his involvement, a director from the show's second season disclosed to The Playlist that Mendelsohn is indeed part of the cast. Alonso Ruizpalacios mentioned that directing the Star Wars series was a delight, particularly highlighting the joy of working with prominent actors such as Stellan Skarsgård, Forest Whitaker, and Ben Mendelsohn.

Although Lucasfilm has yet to officially confirm his participation, the inclusion aligns well with the storyline's progression. The season’s narrative is expected to lead directly into the events of the movie. Ruizpalacios is directing the final three episodes, which aligns with Mendelsohn's appearance.

The showrunner, Tony Gilroy, previously indicated that the final scene is no secret. It will feature Cassian traversing the tarmac to board the ship en route to the Rings of Kafrene, where he will meet Daniel Mays.

While Andor season 2 does not yet have a release date, an initial preview was showcased at the previous Star Wars Celebration. Stellan Skarsgard, a star from Dune 2, provided GamesRadar+ with an estimated release window, suggesting it could arrive towards the end of the year or in the early part of the next.
