Star Wars: Hunters Set to Shutdown Amid Industry Challenges for Live-Service Games
Mar-19-2025

The landscape of new live-service games is currently facing significant challenges, as evidenced by recent closures and cancellations within the industry. Several titles have encountered issues, leading to their discontinuation or termination. One more game is now set to join this unfortunate trend.
Zynga has announced the decision to discontinue its complementary hero shooter available at no cost, situated in the Star Wars universe, despite previously intending to broaden its availability on more platforms this year. Presently, the game is accessible exclusively on the Switch and mobile devices, and feedback from players has not been overwhelmingly positive. As a result, the game will be taken offline before it can launch on PC, with no additional content updates anticipated post-mid-April.
Zynga acknowledges the disappointment surrounding this announcement, emphasizing that this decision was carefully considered. The company expresses gratitude for the support and involvement of the community, promising to maintain transparency and provide updates during the transition period.
Regarding the immediate plans for Star Wars: Hunters, it has come to light that Season 5 is set to receive an extension starting March 25, lasting an additional three weeks. During this time, previous events and shop bundles will be made available once more. On April 15, the game will see its final content update, introducing the new support character Tuya at no cost alongside other in-game offerings. However, the in-game shop will be deactivated, although the Ranked Mode leaderboard will continue functioning as usual.
Ultimately, the game will conclude its run on October 1, marking its official shutdown and removal from service.
